Vintage Mac Torx
Posted by: olePigeon on 2016-10-26 12:42:57
The school at which I work has been a Mac district since the beginning.  Every now and then I find little gems.  This is my latest work conquest, a vintage torx screwdriver for opening compacts. 🙂

Hah, nice 😀 I remember having an absolute bear of a time getting a Torx screwdriver of the right size for compact Macs some years ago - I eventually wound up ordering one with a whopping 18" blade just because I couldn't find anything closer to the right size...

Yep, I bought an 18"er in 2014 for compacts.

Really? I find them pretty much at any of the major hardware stores around here, like Home Depot, Lowes and Menards.

That's interesting - I swear I checked with the area Menards and the local hardware stores, to no avail.

Think the one I got might be this one, not sure if longer. Goes into any of those cheap bit-changing screw drivers.

I was actually thinking about getting one of these. But shipping is ludicrously expensive.

I have a 'compatible' torx screwdriver at home that I made myself. I whittled the handle so it could fit through the holes... But it looks rubbish. And it's very hard to see what you're doing down there. I have to guess where the screw is... with the torx extension it would save me like...minutes!
