Posted by: fimbulvetr on 2016-10-26 07:31:30 Anyone have any experience with the SDFloppy II?

I have one of BMOW's Floppy Emus for my macs which I like a lot, but I was thinking of getting one of these to use as a dedicated floppy emulator for my IIc.

Posted by: waynestewart on 2016-10-27 12:38:45 I just received one Tuesday so I have limited experience. What concerns you?

Posted by: fimbulvetr on 2016-10-27 16:16:35 No concerns, I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on it before I bought one.
I ended up buying one anyways, so I guess I'll find out for myself when it shows up!

Posted by: Gorgonops on 2016-10-27 17:04:49 I've kind of been considering one myself because of some of the limitations the FloppyEMU has with 5 1/4" emulation, at least in concert with the Disk ][ controller. Wish they were a tad cheaper, but only because they cost nearly as much as the EMU but only do the one thing.

Posted by: olePigeon on 2016-10-28 08:33:04 I love that guy's work. I have his Mockingboard and Ramworks VGA board. They look awesome.

Posted by: waynestewart on 2016-10-28 09:32:53 I’ve just used mine with a IIe. With a disk II card it was about the same speed as a Disk II drive. Tried a Transwarp with slot 6 set to fast but no boot. Then as I lay in bed I thought about trying it with a UDC card. So I got up and did that. It worked as expected but it also wouldn’t work with a Transwarp with slot 6 set to fast.

Posted by: fimbulvetr on 2016-11-14 20:22:29 So, I got my SDFloppy II in the mail today. It is an excellent piece of hardware and very well made. The construction and finish is really impressive, with a nice metal case. I plugged it into the internal floppy connector on my IIc so I could boot off it, and it works great. Just plug and play.
