| Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2016-10-23 17:22:23 I recently took out my G3 AIO molar again. Everything is there... except the power cord, which I think I might have sold with a different computer. I have a cord that fits it from an external hard drive. Will using it damage anything? I highly doubt it, and this is probably a stupid question, but I dont want the power cord to be, agh I have no idea. Its fine to use, right? | |

| Posted by: omidimo on 2016-10-23 19:06:07 I have always been a fan of the old iMac G3 power cables. Technically they are standard IEC except the plastic is translucent (awesomeness).  The G5Q's used C19's which were common in Cisco enterprise hardware. | |

And since it had no power cable, I didn't take it. 🙁I wouldn't pass the opportunity to get a free mac if it was only missing a power cord. Then again the power supply was probably shot in that iMac G5. | |

Oh, and dont forget the fragile CRT's... Or my G3 AIO molar. I cant believe mine arrived with no damage... Mark my words. an IIGS, instead of only being worth $50 now, will double every 5 years. Or the AIO. Or whatever. I collect typewriters too. Theres these keychopper people that cut off the keys for jewelry. Every day the old glass key typewriters get rarer and rarer. Same with computers (But the CRTs and plastic will be breaking from shipping). Oh and also the rust and corrosion from sitting in basements. Or heat and yellowing in attics. White macs will be worth alot more. | |

I'm looking for a Power Mac G5 though, but I want the Quad because I like to be Tim Allen/Jeremy Clarkson and have a powerful computer. | |

| Posted by: rsolberg on 2016-10-25 18:02:34 Watch out for these plugs:  They started appearing with the eMac and continued on to the iMac G5 and Intel iMacs. The computers can accept a standard C13 cable, but these cables don't always seat properly in other devices. Protrusions near the power inlet can interfere with the round flange on the Apple plug. Edit: forgot the eMac. | |
