Powerbook 140 chime, no screen
Posted by: bibilit on 2016-10-23 04:19:02
yesterday i collected a non-working Pwb 140, but very cheap.

I met a nice guy, who was involved in Apple and Macintosh stuff from the beginning (he was Steward and carried his Plus on flight, he wrote some stuff for a french Apple magazine)

Well, the Powerbook only wanted to play nice with my Powerbook 100 PSU, so the PSU should be repaired, it chimed, the screen lit up, but no pointer...

I recapped the screen, and the inverter, but screen hasn't changed.

Any known issue ?

Replying to myself.

turns out the display cable was bad, replacing it with a spare solved the problem.

With new capacitors on the screen and inverter board, display is very nice.

Hard drive was repaired also.

Cool! You repaired the hd the same way as the PB100 Connors ones ?

Hi Gaƫl,
