Damaged classic mac to pokedex
Posted by: rockycruz123 on 2026-01-07 16:38:53
Ive purchased a macintosh class II and it was damaged in shipping ( not surprised). Im using hypercard to make a "pokedex" of the original 151 pokemon and planned to turn the mac classic into a macindex macintosh-pokedex as the computer was already cosmeticly flawed with cracks and chips of plastic missing but nothing was structural
But now i think the damage is to severe , i would like some input. Attached are pictures of the damage and a concept of the macindex.

Fun! Since the original case is already a wash, why not dress it up with a theme? Run it with At Ease so Hypercard can be in kiosk mode, and you've got a fun little piece to take to conferences 🙂

there is so many battery bombed boards around, easy to find a good case if you are looking for one...

Unfortunately i only paid $55 for this one and even a battery bombed one doesnt go for that cheap.

Is anything inside the machine damaged or just the case? The case can be repaired

Im unsure of the condition of the inside , im at work and wont be able to inspect for some time, but i did some research (the kinda info i was hoping this post would provide) and i think im going to us a sandable plastic gap filler to try to fix the cracks chips and stright up missing parts of the plastic.

May I suggest checking the internal components before you go to the effort of attempting a case repair? If the CRT is damaged, or the logicboard is battery bombed, then the rest of it may not be worth saving.

Yes of course, honestly thought that would go without saying , i mean i have to open it to do repair on the case anyway. But like i said not home and wont be for 2 weeks so cant take a look until i return , just wanted to have everything for the project and look for insight from anyone whos done plastic repair to this extent.
