| ATI Graphics Accelerator extension isn’t loading with flashed 9200 |
I recently flashed an ATI 9200 (as well as performed the resistor swap) to use in my Beige G3 Minitower. The machine is basically stock. I can get an image with the card even in safe mode but I’m not getting any acceleration. The problem seems to be that, on startup, I can see a red X through the ATI Graphics Accelerator extension indicating it is not loading. I’m on a fresh install of 9.2.2 with nothing but the ATI drivers installed. I’ve tried disabling all extensions besides the Graphics Accelerator to check for conflicts but that doesn’t fix it either. Any ideas?

Search for 9200 and follow the recommendations. I tried the ROM patch but unfortunately that didn’t work either. I’m considering maybe trying the reduced ROM since I’ve heard that worked for some people. I swapped out the ROM chip for a bigger one to try the full ROM.

I remember having similar issues a while back. I think I ended up finding drivers that worked after trying multiple variations. I would try searching for ATI 9200 Mac drivers “DVI-I”. I believe the DVI-I version of the drivers was different somehow and it was the only version that worked for me.
By the way, my card is the genuine Mac release (not flashed).
