I did not expect this to work. I have a RoDime R0652 pulled from a Mac SE that died one day. I decided I needed to see if it still worked. The only 68k Mac I own is a Quadra 630... so there's no opportunity for an internal connection there. The next best thing would be to hack apart a LaCie Joule.
Ripping apart the Joule reveals a somewhat complex 50-Pin header adapter connected to a dead Quantum Fireball. No problem, I just ripped that out too, and viola! I created a 50-Pin SCSI to external DB-25 SCSI adapter. The only challenge was the Molex power connector. The RoDime has it in an awkward spot, so I couldn't connect the Joule adapter 100%. I had to use a molex power brick.

To my surprise, the RoDime still worked, and setup just fine on the Q630. I wonder if I could connect this to a SCSI CD drive, too?
