Classic: floppy not working after recap
Posted by: CharlieFrown on 2025-10-29 07:21:58
Hi,

I did recap the mobo and analogue board, I get stable display and the computer is booting fine from BlueSCSI. Working with OS 6.0.8 and 7.1.
On floppy port I get a stable 12 volts and 4,97 volts. However it does not utilize floppy drive - internal or external. I get no reaction when inserting
different floppies into drives that work with Mac Plus. Any ideas? BTW if that could matter I did not replace the large 400v capacitor that "rarely fails" according to recap guide.

Have you confirmed the drive itself is working correctly? Maybe swap in the 800k drive from the Plus temporarily (make sure to use the same ribbon cable from the plus if you do this)?

I swapped fully working 800k and SuperDrives (confirmed with other Macs), but to no avail. Should I try recapping the remaining cap - the biggest one? Or SWIM chip is dead?
