PowerBook Pismo LCD Backlight Replacement
Does anyone here offer or know of an LCD backlight replacement service. I have two otherwise great Pismo displays that are red and/or dim and need to look more like new.

A response here or a PM would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

You can replace the CCFL tube - I have done that before - you need specific length and open it up to replace the CCFL tube.

At the end of the day it'll be brighter but if the screen is already yellow tint - its done.

You can still buy new LCD for it today.
Cheers

Hi AP, thanks for the encouragement.

Yeah, I can replace the CCFL tube - I actually did that a couple of times - but my success rate of 50% isn't really acceptable. I'm really much better at hitting a PayPal "Pay" button.

Once the LCDs get well warmed up they come to a nice, bright state. And they have no surface imperfections. I think they are OK candidates for a "retube".

Apparently I need to take another pass at locating a new LCD. The last time I did it two listing sounded live but neither had the goods.

Thanks again

a lot of these tasks are so specific and low demand that there is no PayPal button.

you probably just gotta get better at it and start offering your own PayPal button 🤣

or maybe offer money upfront. something like "i'll pay 100 bucks to anyone who can replace the backlight in my pismo".. that might get people more interested 🙂
