| 640CD DOS Compatible no chime |
I have a spare 640CD DOS Compatible board that does not boot or chime when I plug it into my main 640CD machine. The joystick port is missing its cover, so it’s possible someone may have plugged the video cable in there by mistake. I have not recapped it yet. Is recapping the first thing I should do before trying anything else?
I also have a few 630CDs. Can I swap the DOS board from the 640CD into a 630CD, or are they not compatible?

Do you get any video? Recapping is a good place to start, the caps on mine were starting to leak when I did it last year. Have you tried to run it without the PC Card in place?
As for the board, it only works with certain revisions of the 630 board.. it needs to be the model with two SIMM slots for RAM for the Mac itself.

No video. I haven’t tried it without the DOS card yet, but I can give that a try. I’m not sure which model I have. Let me recap and see if that works.

Oh and try changing out the ram on the Mac side too first, could easily be it’s dodgy!
