| Powerbook 100 question |
Posted by: imactheknife on 2025-08-25 16:28:07 Have another powerbook 100. I noticed the screen flickers more than another one i have. I can adjust contrast but not brightness. I took display off and put on another powerbook 100 and it works properly. So something on logic board is doing that? Anyone have an idea of where to look? The two 10uf 16 in front of the display cable? |

check the potentiometers The screen works perfectly using a different logic board so i think it is a cap or something on the other logic board thats causing it. Anyone caps or whats related to brightness in the pb100 logic? Both boards are recapped |

Could be the CFL backlight... I've seen people replace with LED strips... No, unfortunately the display works fine with a different logic board so i think i will have to look over the logic board and do some more cleaning and check my caps. I was just hoping someone knew the schematics for the brightness on the logic board if any. |
Posted by: Shaddam IV on 2025-08-29 01:10:21 Might be the caps on the inverter. From https://wiki.console5.com/tw/index....owerBook_100&mobileaction=toggle_view_desktop:
Polymer caps, list for reference only (not included in kits)
C1 15uF 16v
C4 47uF 16v |

C4 47uF 16v Yeah unfortunately it works fine with a different logic board so i assume display and inverter are fine. Just something on logic board that is affecting brightness control. |
Posted by: imactheknife on 2025-11-03 17:54:00 Ok, so something can be so simple to fix lol.. i had recapped this powerbook 100 and was having the issue with brightness not working. Read above. Anyways, got yet another powerbook 100 on the weekend and its hard drive worked. I put it in the other one i have and brightness now works. The other hard drive i had in it doesnt know or is to new of a system to recognize the brightness control so it didnt work lol.. so yeah, this powerbook was fine alll along just needed correct system on it. |
