| How to adjust monitor in iMac G3? |
Posted by: naujoks on 2025-08-21 03:14:10 Since exchanging the dead flyback in my iMac G3 with a working one, the screen dimensions are almost good, but not quite.
Is there a way I can adjust the dimensions? The vertical size needs to be decreased and the vertical position too. There are no adjustment pots on the board, of course. |
Posted by: bibilit on 2025-08-21 04:26:18 Only adjustments available on the board are Focus and brightnes (flyback transformer), all other ones are done via MacOs software only. |

Posted by: mac27 on 2025-08-21 18:22:50 I don't have OS X on my iMac G3 so I can't personally say for sure, but there should be some kind of "displays" section in System Preferences depending on what version of X you are using. |

But in OS X there is no such panel? You would boot into 9 to set up your geometry, then boot back into X |

Posted by: croissantking on 2025-08-22 08:43:43 They are referring to the geometry panel, which is found in Mac OS 9’s Monitors control panel, and adjusts compatible monitors like the trayloader iMac CRT and the old AppleVision displays. I think OS X dropped support for this - I believe there is no such feature within the Displays panel.

Ahh, nice. My bad. Your photo shows it working with the slot load iMac, can we assume it also works with the trayloader? What kind of iMac does OP have anyway? |
Posted by: finkmac on 2025-08-22 09:19:14 it should appear on any internal CRT Macs that can officially run OS X |
