SE/30 Bright Vertical Edge
Posted by: lubert on 2025-08-10 14:57:04
After replacing the 7905 and BU406 on the analog board in the hopes of reducing some screen wobble, the display started showing a bright and stable vertical line on the right edge. The Dead Mac Scrolls mention replacing the BU406 would fix a bright (but wiggling) right edge, so I'm wondering if the replacement BU406 was bad as well.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Appreciate any help!

Try playing with the width coil and horizontal positioning.

Never seen before, but looks like you are having a foldover on the right edge ( round corners are missing)

As an update, I replaced the BU406 with a BU406D and that fixed the issue! Thanks folks for the replies.

I'm going in to do same with an SE/30 with jumpy/jittery video (all other avenues exhausted), do you think the BU406D you bought was just a better quality version? I've a pack of ?? unknown BU406 and reckon they might be super cheap.

I suspect the key difference is BU406 vs BU406D. There’s a thread here that describes how BU406 seem to measure differently: https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?t...-logic-board-is-there-a-chance.1249210/page-4
