| SE/30 Bright Vertical Edge |
Posted by: lubert on 2025-08-10 14:57:04 After replacing the 7905 and BU406 on the analog board in the hopes of reducing some screen wobble, the display started showing a bright and stable vertical line on the right edge. The Dead Mac Scrolls mention replacing the BU406 would fix a bright (but wiggling) right edge, so I'm wondering if the replacement BU406 was bad as well.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? Appreciate any help! |

Posted by: lubert on 2025-09-06 15:30:04 As an update, I replaced the BU406 with a BU406D and that fixed the issue! Thanks folks for the replies. |

I'm going in to do same with an SE/30 with jumpy/jittery video (all other avenues exhausted), do you think the BU406D you bought was just a better quality version? I've a pack of ?? unknown BU406 and reckon they might be super cheap. |
Posted by: lubert on 2025-09-07 09:09:48 I suspect the key difference is BU406 vs BU406D. There’s a thread here that describes how BU406 seem to measure differently: https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?t...-logic-board-is-there-a-chance.1249210/page-4 |
