| Was there a PC variant of the original Radeon PCI? |
Posted by: croissantking on 2025-08-09 08:09:24 Regarding the card shown below, the original Radeon Mac Edition PCI 32MB. Did this board exist on the PC/Sun side, and if so, could one be flashed for Mac?
I have a couple of R7000s, but I'd like to play around with an original one.

Posted by: obsolete on 2025-08-09 08:24:50 I know AGP versions are out there, sometimes called Radeon 7200 or Radeon DDR. If a non-Mac PCI version exists, though, I've never seen it. |
Posted by: croissantking on 2025-08-09 12:31:29 I've come up with this variant which is similar but uses SDRAM instead of SGRAM. I wonder if it'd be similar enough that the Mac firmware wouldn't balk. (EDIT: actually I think this might be the SDR not DDR version, in which case, no thanks)

They also seem to be referred to as Rage 6, as is printed on the ROM of this one. |
Posted by: obsolete on 2025-08-09 13:34:39 Yeah, that's ye olde SDRAM.
I'd like to find a Radeon 9100 PCI someday, but I'd settle for a 7500. |

I'd like to find a Radeon 9100 PCI someday, but I'd settle for a 7500. I know before the 9200 Mac Edition pci came out people were experimenting flashing the 9100 pci. I cant seem to find the cards anywhere, though.
I imagine that you should be able to find a 7200 DDR PCI video card somewhere that should be a standard reference design. |
