When I hook up the PB to my AppleTalk network, the PB can see and mount the compact macs with no problems. I can move files back and forth from the PB, access programs on the compact macs, etc. However, when I try to connect from one of the compact macs to the PB, while they can see the PB on the network as soon as I try to mount the PB the compact macs get a divide by zero error and reboot. Is there any way to get the compact macs to connect to the PB, or is this a lost cause?
| Posted by: olePigeon on 2016-10-04 12:26:44 I believe there's an incompatibility with OS 9 and System 7. My machines do the same thing. I can mount my IIci on my G4, but not the other way around.
You might want to consider FTP.
| Posted by: beachycove on 2016-10-04 13:14:48 I have mounted a 500gb share from an ASIP Server (OS9.1) over LocalTalk on a Classic, no less, via a bridge machine with 100% success, so this one flummoxes me.
I think there may be a patch for AppleTalk in early system 7s available.... can't quite remember.
| Posted by: mtennes on 2017-02-24 05:10:37 I don't know for sure, but I believe it has something to do with the size of the media being shared. Sharing the 40GB startup volume on a G4 Cube failed as well as a 150 USB connected hard drive, but sharing the DVD drive and a 2GB USB flash drive worked like a charm. In my setup I had an Asante AppleTalk to Ethernet adapter between the Cube and the Mac Plus.
