PC133 RAM for a Tangerine iBook G3?
Posted by: Pilgrim33 on 2025-07-12 19:55:41
I want to upgrade the RAM on my Tangerine iBook G3 (it has a 64MB RAM card installed). I believe it uses PC66 3.3V 144-pin SO-DIMM cards, but I was wondering if I can use a PC133 3.3V 144-pin SO-DIMM, 256 MB RAM card in it?

Like this one:

Alternatively, do I need to stay with PC66? For example the card below? I prefer the 256 MB card, obviously.

Any advice is welcome!

Pretty sure that's just the clock rate, and using an higher rated clock SO-DIMM on a system with a slower clock rate won't cause any problems. PC100 and PC133 went through this phase back in the early 2000s.

As long as you purchase some vanilla good quality PC133 RAM (such as with Hynix, Samsung chips) it'll down clock fine to PC66, PC100 speeds
