| help me identify unknown logic board |
Posted by: markgeek36 on 2025-06-08 20:29:54 So i’m not sure if this is the right section if it’s not please delete.
I have what i thought was a mac classic II logic board but it doesn’t really match the bomarc schematics i found. Can someone tell me if this indeed is a mac classic II? if not what it is and i’m wondering how i got it.
i do remember taking it out of a computer which i thought was the classic II
Oh yes i took off c21 but i don’t think it leaked i don’t think any of these caps leaked even though there’s a lot of grey stuff? is it dirt? |
Posted by: Byrd on 2025-06-08 20:33:54 Yes Classic II - later revision board (that doesn’t have the 4 X ROMs in line)
The crusty stuff is dirt/corrosion and needs a very deep clean |
Posted by: markgeek36 on 2025-06-08 21:37:04 So have any caps leaked? it’s really hard to tell if they have i’m not seeing any wetness. the cap i did take off looked fine.
what’s the best stuff to use to remove it? i did a very basic wash with cold water but we have very hard water here so i may end up using distilled water. just using a alcohol swap didn’t seem to do much |
Posted by: finkmac on 2025-06-08 21:38:19 yeah they've all leaked.
easy way to check:
is it a classic 2 board? if yes, continue below
does it have the stock capacitors? if yes... they've leaked! |
Posted by: markgeek36 on 2025-06-08 22:00:14 the board worked when i found this(outside believe it or not) however it doesn’t work now. i don’t think it boots at all but its been a long time since i last tested.
so any advice on cleaning? i’d assume baking soda and a toothbrush?
also i’m a very basic novice at soldering but this would be good practice. |
