| QuickTime inside the ROM of Macintosh "AV" |
Posted by: Dandu on 2025-06-03 09:15:02 A few years ago, I came across this page stating that the ROM of the 660AV/840AV contains QuickTime 1.5 (https://web.archive.org/web/20220922133807/https://support.apple.com/kb/TA29776?locale=en_US).
QuickTime 1.5 is installed in ROM, however, the software version of QuickTime 1.6 was installed at the factory and will override the version in ROM.
Does anyone know if it can be enabled? I tried quickly by removing the extension that comes with System 7, but then the software wouldn’t launch anymore. |
