Where to find a 28 Pin PLCC male plug?
Posted by: Juror22 on 2025-05-27 19:45:42
As topic title states, I'm looking for a 28 Pin PLCC male plug, so I can do some SWIM work. I have found these available for $140 already mounted to an adapter board, but I have been unable to locate the part by itself. I suppose it could be fabricated via 3D printing and some additional work, but I am hoping to find these from Mouser, etc.

Has anyone already found these plugs for sale?

What I have found are things like this...

I would buy the one they have to experiment with, but the min quantity to purchase is 10, so this one that they have, cannot be bought.
I've seen too many of these catch22s looking for parts.

A 3D printed jig with some 24 or 22 gauge solid core wire is probably your best bet. Put holes in the center to stick the end of each wire (contact) into and some channels with a hole at the bottom (the square rim). Insert the end in the hole, thread through corresponding hole in the bottom square, pull taut, then flare outwards and trim. Repeat x28. A careful bit of work, to be sure, but doable. Probably need a .25mm nozzle. I expect it would be best to put a central screw (or two) for mechanical attachment to the PCB. Not something you'd want to make many of, but for a one-off it'd work.

Here's a quick doodle.

Also, have you tried contacting that site you posted a screenshot of directly? Seems like a pretty clear coding issue on their site, but their support could probably push through an order.

Thanks for the reply, if I can't find something readymade, I will go the 3D route (I already found an 'untested' file out there that I could use as a beginning).

I was thinking that as well - I will contact them tomorrow. Thanks for giving me a push on that. 🙂

Instead of contacting them today, I wrote them last night. Earlier today they had it fixed and I was able to order it!

Fantastic customer service! - and terrific advice, zigzagjoe!

Nice! Rarely does it hurt to ask 🙂

I am still curious about the idea of a DIY one. I don't have an immediate need, but I might poke at it anyways.

Here is the (untested) 3D model one that I found, during my search... it might be better than starting from scratch.
