Trying to install Sorbet Leopard onto a SATA SSD via a flashed PCI SIL3112 Card onto my G4-Upgraded B&W G3 Rev2. Sorbet kernel panics with this log info. What do I have to do to install to install Sorbet or even regular Leopard to run on this now G4 Mac? |

Posted by: indibil on 2025-05-21 23:18:39 Do you have at least a 500MHz processor and 512MB of RAM? I think those are the minimum requirements.
I was able to install it on a Pismo upgraded to a 500MHz G4, and it worked after updating to the latest firmware. |

G4 @500mHz. Ram maxed out at 1gb. I've ran Sorbet on a Sawtooth G4 @ either 400 or 450mhz. Also have ran it on a Dual 450Mhz Gigabit Ethernet model before. |

I expect it to be very sluggish on a 500MHz G3 with 16MB ATi graphics card, like an SE/30 running Mac OS 8.1.

And? Did it run well? Dual 450mhz ran ok off of a CF card on the ATA-66 bus. Single CPU (400 or 450) wasn't that great but could've been worse. |
