| MkLinux installation woes |
Trying to install MkLinux on a Daystar Genesis MP (with a mildly dodgy CPU2, but bleh - my understanding is that the installation/default kernel is single processor).
I've stuffed the mklinux boot files (the MkLinux control panel, the boot extension, the kernel, the settings files) in the appropriate places, set mach to boot with -v because I'm obssessive, and tried to run the installation. Mach runs, detects everything fine, loads stuff from the CD, then tries to chainload whatever it chainloads from the CD, which attempts to change video mode (?) and then I get a black screen and nothing else.
The only troubleshooting advice that touches on this in the instructions says to make sure you're in a 256 colour mode in MacOS. I am.
This occurs both with the DR3 ISO and the final RC ISO I could find.
What am I missing?

What's the GPU?

Sorry for lag, was away from home.
Happens both with a Twin Turbo and an ATI Mach64. I couldn't find a hardware compatibility list in the docs, but perhaps I missed it; any idea what I'm doing wrong?

For a point of comparison I have tried RC3 on my 9600/350 and it hangs at "mem_size = "
I'll try some other installers, but I have a feeling I won't be much help here.
I have a TwinTurbo 128 too, so if I get any other installer to work I'll let you know if that's a factor.
Edit: I've also discovered that one of the SCSI buses on my 9600 doesn't work...so this may already be a flawed test.

R2 (2002 creation dates vs 1998 for RC3) gets further but then kernel panics at "bmacplus not found in environment"

I vaguely remember installing MkLinux on a 4400 way back when both of those things were fairly contemporary.
It definitely worked as I used it for a little while.
The 4400 has the same graphics processor on board as the Mach64, so that would suggest that it's not the video card...
