| Dim and Yellow display PB 520c |
Posted by: tf 85e3 on 2025-04-25 19:08:39 The lcd Seems dim, yellow tint and washed out. I just want to make sure it is the backlight before I start to look for a new one to replace mine. The caps don't seem to be leaking. |
Posted by: Byrd on 2025-04-25 22:19:49 Is there a yellow tinge when the PowerBook is turned off? It could be more the polariser film/glue degrading. If not, it's a prime candidate for an LCD strip backlight. |

No yellow when off. What is the pros and cons of lcd and ccfl back lighting. LED uses less power and is much brighter. The downside is that it's harder to control the brightness. |

it is possible with off-the-shelf parts.
i went round-and-round and finally got to a simple solution. See what you think.

Posted by: 4seasonphoto on 2025-05-03 22:30:40 I had a similar issue with a G4 iBook, but changing the CCFL tube didn't fix the problem as I had hoped. Perhaps the actual problem was the LCD's laminations were degrading. The very expensive, circa 2007 Leica M8 digital camera's LCD had a similar issue, which has been dubbed "coffee staining". |
