| G3 AIO died after being off for 2 days |
Posted by: d3jsp on 2025-04-11 04:43:11 Was working perfectly. Left it off for 2 days and now it won't boot.
First it chimed, turned on with a completely white screen on the CRT but then won't continue further
Turned it off, restart and still a white screen but now it's off center
Tried a pram reset at boot and now even the crt won't turn on. Same after multiple pram resets and pressing the reset button on the motherboard. It still chimes and all the drives spin up but screen stays black |

Posted by: d3jsp on 2025-04-11 04:59:52 tried it but no video since it chimes but won't actually boot |
Posted by: d3jsp on 2025-04-11 05:01:29 do I need a pram battery to boot a G3 AIO? |
Posted by: d3jsp on 2025-04-11 15:36:42 Turned out to be the motherboard. I swapped it with a known good G3 beige and it boots!
But so weird that a board would just die like this randomly. Now it's just black screen in the beige too
PRAM reset does absolutely nothing. Not even second bong
Reset hotkey ctrl-option-reset works but just bongs and black screen again. |
Posted by: adespoton on 2025-04-11 15:49:36 Well, the motherboard is a lot of parts and traces. Likely one component failed. Based on the sequence of events, it's likely one of the more complex parts that failed slowly. |
