Columbo's Mystery Capers full version available?
I was wondering if a full version of "Columbo's Mystery Capers" exists for download somewhere? I know that there is a demo version on unna but, I don't see the full version on that site, or anywhere else. I ask because I came across this eBay listing that seems to have the full version available on a PCMCIA ROM card:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/326227181909

If I had an actual Newton myself, I'd buy it and then attempt to backup/dump the ROM card. For those who already own this game, has anyone had any luck backing up the PCMCIA ROM card to a .ppcard image file, that could be used in Einstein, for instance?

Thanks so much 🙂 👍

I have the game. Do you have a tutorial to explain how to dump the card ?

Just chiming in to say that I would love to be able to download and try this out! I love obscure games on obscure formats...

🙂

Sorry for the delay. I'm honestly not sure. That's why I was asking about it here 🤔 😬

You could try sending a message to the NewtonTalk mailing list. Lot of people there that might know something https://newtontalk.net/

There is discussion on dumping card memory here. The instructions require it being connected to a classic Mac and do not look trivial https://newtontalk.net/archive/newtontalk/2021-February/000130.html

Relatedly I have the "Fortune 500" card from the first photo in this thread. Would it be worthwhile trying to extract that program in the same way?

Probably. Always great to have more properly preserved Newton software 😁 I'll be happy to test out the extracted file in the Einstein emulator 👍

So, the PCMCIA port from my Newton 110 is dead. I will try with the emate another day. I have write about this game many years ago : https://www.journaldulapin.com/2021/04/06/columbo-apple-newton/

I'm working on this. Actually, just a thing : i have the german version, not the english one.

I will try to dump that with my eMate, but it's complicated

Hey all I have been looking into this as well. I recently acquired both the Columbo Mystery and Motile cards and I’ll, at some point, try my hand at gertting these ported too. May we all have luck at some point in this. Be great if we could make these awesome games by the legendary game developer, Micheal Berlyn (who also created Bubsy Bobcat, wrote games for Infocom, etc) more available to all.
