Mystery Daystar PDS card.

So my Quadra has this in the PDS slot.

I have no idea what it does, and I couldn't find a pic of another Daystar card that looks like it. It does boot just fine without the card.

Any ideas on what it's for?

Just guessing but it may be a cache card. From the looks of it, those chips look like memory of some type.

Yep, it looks like one of their PowerCache cards

Cache card for sure. chip layout is a dead giveaway.

So...does my Quadra need it?

No, you don't NEED it. It just makes things faster.

Probably should have worded that better, would it benefit from it (which you've answered). I knew the IIci needed one for best performance, wasn't sure on the Quadra.

Just a cache card for a PDS Quadra. That one is 25mhz so a Quadra 950 would work or 700? Cache does speed up a 68040, and if you have nothing else in that slot why not.
