| NuBus cards with no DeclROM? |
Posted by: robin-fo on 2025-01-22 04:38:24 I stumbled over this video grabber card. It looks fairly simple.. It doesn‘t even have a declaration ROM (at least I can’t see one). Can this even be possible? I thought every NuBus card needs one?

Posted by: Bolle on 2025-01-22 04:42:12 Apple wanted you to have one but technically it's not needed. The card isn't going to show up in anything that uses Slot Manager but if you wrote your driver/software to just poke the Nubus slot addresses and probe for the card on your own that's going to work just fine as well. |

Posted by: robin-fo on 2025-01-22 05:42:27 I don‘t own this card, I just saw pictures of it in the internet |

Posted by: Arbee on 2025-01-22 19:40:55 Might be a small PROM with the ID rather than an EPROM. The chip above the crystal on the left side of the card has the markings mostly smeared out but it looks like it was stamped "ROM".
...and then I see the other, clearer picture and it's just a 7400 and "ROK", not "ROM". |
