William Ray Bingham II Floppy Disk Easel
Posted by: David Cook on 2024-12-23 16:11:59 Picked up a floppy disk easel from the late 1980s. The information below was publicly posted by William himself. I'm capturing it here for preservation purposes. "Over 30 years ago I was a System Engineer at Apple in Chicago. Back then floppies were the media of choice. This is how I carried 95% of the software I needed day in day out. Including: Operating System Utilities AppleShare (Disk & Print Server, PC, and WS) Internet SW (early UIUC NCSC) Tape Backup EtherTalk, HyperScan, CD Setup, Printing Tools, HyperCard Stacks and Help, MacWrite and MacPaint, Network and General Utilities! If you have 68000 Macs this is all you need and perhaps a bit more." Great title on his business card (all the contact information is now obsolete) He put his initials (B2) on his rare and valuable floppy disk drive protector insert. Most of the disks contain common Apple system software. If there is something that catches your eye, let me know and I'll upload it. Four disks had unique-enough material for me to attach the images to this posting. It looks like ResEdit 1.2B3, Tape Backup 40SC, MacTerminal 2.3 and others are already in repositories. But, just in case. The Moof sound is just a cow; not the true moof from the CDs. EtherTalk v2.0 seems potentially novel. Apple's version; not Asante. - David
