Another Easter Egg Hunt : the Power Mac G3
Posted by: Dandu on 2024-11-29 12:48:49
With the topic about the strange ROM of the Power Mac G3, I remembered another subject: the ROM of the Beige Power Mac G3 contains an image with photos of developers. I haven’t found a method to display the image, but it is present in all versions of the ROM that I’ve seen.

I extracted the image using FileJuicer. Apparently, someone else also looked into it a few years ago. (me too)

I have a G3 to test.

Are we talking about Easter Egg images in general? Classic Macs were rife with them.

I know that, but i have found many of the image seen of MacKido. For this one, on the G3, i have not seen the method : i have found the image, but not the way to see it.

That filename has @croissantking's name in it, so does he know how to get this image to show on a G3?

It's because the ROM used is the one from @croissantking on a topic. The image is on all the variant

yes! Doug mentioned having found code that looks for RAM disks with a certain name, I went exploring in Infinite Mac, and found it.

To get the easter egg to show up on a Beige G3, set up a RAM disk (any size will do). Select Special → Erase Disk, and name it secret ROM image - when it finishes formatting you'll find The Team inside. Double click; it opens in SimpleText.
