| Posted by: AndyMc1280 on 2024-11-24 13:28:48 So I'm having an issue with one of my ADB II keyboards. One of the ADB sockets doesn't work. But it seems to not actually be the socket at fault. The ribbon cable is loose at the Keyboard PCB connector end. Theres lateral movement of the cable. Pic below:  Connection of white socket is rock solid. Ribbon cable in socket flexes/moves. Are the ribbon cables removable/replaceable or is it complete desolder of white socket in order to do so? Keyboard works fine just this flex is moo. Bought new ADB socket if necessary but it may be the ribbon is the issue. Any and all input (ahem) appreciated.😂 | |

| Posted by: obsolete on 2024-11-26 14:33:12 There is no connector on the cable side; that connector on the board just grabs the tinned (or solid, I can't recall) wires of the cable. So I'd expect some lateral movement. There's surely a more elegant way to do it, but when I needed to remove one of those to repair a broken ADB connector on my AEKII, I inserted wooden toothpicks in each slot of the connector to release the tension on the contacts and allow the cable to be removed. | |
