M7649 Studio Display - Backlight Error?
Posted by: desertrout on 2024-11-09 20:32:55 I recently acquired a M7649 Studio Display that works well, but the upper backlight seems dim, and the power light is blinking a repeating 'short short long' pattern... which seems to be an error code for a failed backlight. Has anyone repaired one of these before? Is this a caps issue, or does the backlight need replacing?
Posted by: alectrona6400 on 2024-12-07 18:30:20 have you tried it on a different powermac G4 or adapter? i assume insufficient power delivery could be an issue... but it does seem like a failed backlight could be related to the bulbs in the display being bad or something though i've personally never seen a display detect bad bulbs or whatever. however... you could have a dead inverter, because that is what powers the backlight.
