So I received a Macintosh Iici which was in terms of the board not in bad shape, it was clean, but there was issues with the caps leaking which I have replaced with Tantalum caps, the Mac Chimes to raster with cursor but doesn't show a Question mark, interestingly if a bluescsi is plugged in it will boot 6.0.8 to desktop but mouse moves with a glitch, but does not click, also keyboard is giving strange outputs (for example pressing the return button moves the pointer down the screen, I have checked the board around the startup circuits ADB and VIA chips and reflowed both chips, nothing seems out of the ordinary. 6.0.8 seems to be the only system it boots fully 7.1 hangs on splash screen, Also tried with a rominator, again freezes on splash. any ideas? | Posted by: imactheknife on 2024-11-04 17:10:51

Usually i have had to remove the sound chips and clean pads / legs and reinstall. Also, when you pulled old caps off you should always clean and check traces and vias for continuity. Sounds like something isn’t making good connection. | | 1 |
