Unix text files & System 7
Posted by: feeef on 2014-10-27 13:17:07
I have setup an appletalk network between Mac OS X / Linux and System 7.6.1

When opening a shared folder from System 7, is there a way to tell the finder to always open the .txt files created on the Unix systems with something other than SimpleText? (For example BBEdit Lite)

SimpleText doesn't handle Unix line breaks correctly so it is a bit useless for this kind of file.

Thanks for your help! 🙂

You should be able to fiddle with AppleVolumes.system/AppleVolumes.default to set what you want the default program association for .txt to be. Here's an example that specifically mentions BBedit.
