ECC is not recommended. I don't know that it won't work though.
Search for SDRAM in the B&W G3 ServiceSource manual.

As of this spring OWC (macsales.com) was selling 512MB simms for $14 each. PC133 for the G4s but it should work fine in a B&W.

I don’t think I’d be looking at used stuff on eBay if that’s still available.

The max RAM of a B&W G3 is 4x 256MB sticks, for a total of 1GB. Larger capacity sticks will not be recognized and are not compatible in the B&W G3.
