| What is this SMD that’s broken DOS PCI Card |
Posted by: Durosity on 2024-09-08 07:06:03 I’ve got 2 identical PCI DOS compatible cards, one working perfectly and the other I’ve had sitting around for a while but had no way to test it until the other one turned up yesterday with the relevant GIMO cable!
I compared the two cards and found the one that doesn’t work (Bus error when the control panel loads) has a damaged component of some sorts. It’s a coil of some sort but I have no idea what it’s correct name is nor what ratings it would have (nor do I even know id that’s causing the issue.. could be sound related as the ports are there?)

For testing: (I seriously doubt you need 1%, Google suggests 20% is more typical)

Posted by: Durosity on 2024-09-08 09:49:31 Interestingly I’ve removed the component and the car now no longer causes a bus error on start up, but it doesn’t output any video when switched to PC mode so there’s clearly something wrong with the card. I’ll do a recap of the board before doing any other troubleshooting.. may as well get the easy bits out of the way! |
