Sound in The Oregon Trail?
Posted by: thisisamigaspeaking on 2024-08-25 16:29:03 I have sound toggled on in the game menu, and the sound is working on my system (Centris 650), but I am not getting any sound from The Oregon Trail. Does it have music on the title screen? I am using external speakers but pulling the cable doesn't get any sound.
Posted by: Scott Baret on 2024-08-25 16:37:27 Only the CD-ROM version has music. The disk version only has a few sound effects, specifically when a rock is hit while rafting, the rifle is fired during hunting, and when someone dies. The equivalent MS-DOS version on floppy DID have music.

If no sound is working at all, however, I'd check to see if the Sound Manager 3.0 extension file is present in the System Folder. If it is, disable it. Some games do lose their sound when said file is loaded. One of them being Super Tetris.
