I have a eMac that i picked up recently. It worked and turned on but it had a broken DVD drive. So i opened it up and replaced the drive and it works. Except the DVD drive gets stuck trying to open. I take it back apart and reposition the drive but now it doesn't power on. The capacitor's look bad but they worked yesterday.
Thanks | Posted by: alectrona6400 on 2024-08-15 12:28:11 If the capacitors are bad you should replace them, or have someone do it for you. That is what is causing the power issues on the eMac. I would also suggest to check the analog board for any bad caps, because those can fail too. A lot of eMacs were made during the height of the capacitor plague, so replacing the capacitors on the motherboard (the surface mount ones usually don't fail, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace those too) and down converter is strongly recommended. | Posted by: Byrd on 2024-08-15 21:49:58 Go back in you've left something unplugged. They don't just up and fail after you taken it apart. | | 1 |
