DuoDisk-][e compatibility...
Posted by: Mark Newlon on 2024-07-31 08:42:54
Hey Gang!

I just acquired my first ][e. It's an early serial number: 09219 with the Original Rev. A board.

My question is: can I connect a DuoDisk to this e? I know there is a Floppy controller for use with the DuoDisk, and more, but I am not sure if an Un-enhanced model can handle one...

Thanks,

Mark

Yes you can, the Duodisk is a pair of two Unidisk in a same enclosure.

The Unidisk was an update of the Disk II.

So you can use all those on the Apple IIe, as far as you have the the controller card AND the DB25 to DB19 cable (probably the hard part of the job)

The Duodisk can be used in all other Apple IIs as well, probably not the IIc or IIgs but have not tried yet.

Thank you SO much! That is great info! I'm a Mac Nerd since '92, so A ]['s are VERY NEW to me!

Thanks again!

The DuoDisk can be used with a //c, but you only get the use of Drive 1. The //c doesn’t know what to do with the other drive.
