| Accelerator Test Floppy? |
Posted by: Admiral Ackbar on 2024-07-30 16:10:45 Hi all. Can anyone point me to a bootable SYS 6/7 800k floppy image or docs on making one that will let me test the acceleration of a Mac Plus? I think there is an accelerator inside but I am afraid to open the case since it’s probably a wild scene in there.
Thanks. |

Posted by: halkyardo on 2024-07-30 16:14:41 Just open it up and see what’s in there, it’ll be much easier than trying to make up a disc, and if it is indeed a wild scene in there’s it’s far better to deal with it than leave it to deteriorate. |
Posted by: Mk.558 on 2024-07-30 16:15:27 System 6 would be better because it fits the Mac Plus better, the old 68000 aren't as good with System 7 as 68030s and 68040s are. A minimum install for a Mac Plus plus Speedometer should fit on a 800KiB disk.
You'll want to open the case anyways to have a look at the caps on the board. Despite being not as prone to issues as the SE/30 is, it's a 40 year old machine. Analog boards can and do frequently have issues, and an inspection first is warranted. If you need a disk, let me know. |
