Is there any way to update firmware without booting?
Posted by: mcmcjohn on 2024-07-24 19:21:17
My mac is in trouble for booting. Os version is 9.2.2 and rom version is 9.0.1.

And I'm using seritek 1s2 card with two ssd, but I can't install os 9 or os x, either. After booting with installer cd, always freeze in install.

And I can install os to "HDD", it works, but after booting, always freeze.

But I've checked my mac's firmware version is too old, maybe is that current firmware cause?

I've tried to install os almost 1 months, i don't know how to solve this.

Oh, I've found that HDD is working perfectly. Only SSD is in trouble.

Is there anyone who knows the reason?

After installing and booting with HDD, OS 9 works perfectly. But I can't erase or write in any ssds.

This model is my mac and I upgraded to ATI 9000 Pro and 2GB ram.

And I checked my firmware is 4.2.8 so that firm is up to date... So I don't know how to solve this.

But some users say some ssds work perfectly with this card, so I think there are some compatibility issues.

So I'm gonna buy rabbit hole sata card again, I hope it will work... T.T
