iMac G3 gets sad
Posted by: Carboy7 on 2016-08-25 17:43:42
So I tried to just boot up Cro-Mag Rally on MacOS9.2, which is a 3D-intensive game.

(this might help you... I had just installed a 3D paint program (FDesign Detailer))

After I started it, it went through as usual, except the boot of the program was interrupted by a "No 3D Hardware accelerators were found." error message. Then, the game tried to start, at about 1 frame per 5 seconds, and then I realized that something was very wrong. Very VERY wrong. I tried to force-quit the application, but the mouse-pointer didn't pop up. I got scared, and rebooted that clunker. 😉 Disk First Aid is trying to save the HDD, currently. It is "verifying/repairing Wardrobe" (my HDD's name... I name my hard drives after furniture) and I think all is well. It booted into 9.2 successfully, and the only thing I found that was bad is my splitting headache. :-/ Feel free to criticize me and tell me "Ohh Carboy7, you didn't do it right!!!! nag nag nag"

You should had followed Druaga1's tutorial.  😛

In all seriousness though, just checked the minimal hardware requirements for this game and about any iMac should run it fine. Except the Rev A Bondi Blue ones... But that's not the iMac in question here, right?

Dang it! Why didn't *insert here.* 😛

The iMac in question is a summer 2001 model, so I thought it would work.

AND... It happened again. Ugh. I'm going to try and boot 10.4.11 if that fixes it for whatever reason, and if worst comes to worst, reinstall 9.2. I knew that this thing was a bad egg! (hah get it? it's an egg. ba-dum pishhhhhhhh)
