| Farallon StarController Software |
Posted by: thecroc15 on 2024-06-15 08:50:31 Hello! In the midst of collecting a bunch of LocalTalk stuff, and found a Star Controller for $10 on a random surplus sales site. Let's hope it actually shows up! Now to acquire 36,000 feet of telephone wire...ð
However - I can't find the Star Command software anywhere. It's not on the Garden, and the download links from the wayback machine for Farallon are long dead. It doesn't seem to help broken-google that Farallon is now a hedge fund and Athleta makes a series of Farallon jogger pants.
Does anyone have a copy of Star Command or any of the other Farallon software that came with the Star Controller to share?
Thank you!! |

Posted by: pl212 on 2024-09-21 20:00:34 I've added StarCommand 3.1.1 here: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/farallon-starcommand |
Posted by: thecroc15 on 2024-09-22 07:00:07 Thank you!! The firmware file is super important, that's what got mine going again. Not that anyone asked, but leaving a few troubleshooting tips here in case it helps anyone in the future:
-A SCSI cable works between the punch down block and the StarController (if you don't have the original cable)
-Check continuity between the punch down block and your phone wires...without a punch down tool it's fickle!
-You don't need to connect to the StarController with the management port. It can be managed via a Mac hooked up to one of the localtalk ports.
-Flash the firmware! Mine only showed up intermittently in the StarCommand screen, do a firmware flash right when it appears and it should take.
Now just to find a copy of the manual ðĪŠ |

Have a few other materials I'll get scanned and posted too. |
Posted by: thecroc15 on 2024-11-11 16:34:45 Thank you!! Both good reads, and the best find was the wiring diagram for the management cable ð |
