Error Code 0000 000E / 0000 0400
Posted by: awesomec26 on 2024-05-02 06:04:21
I'm attempting to rescue a Mac SE but I cannot find out what is wrong with it. The best I can figure out is that the ram is bad and it's trying to divide by zero. Can anybody tell me is that actually the case or is it beyond repair.

000E is usually a memory issue. have you reseated the RAM SIMMs?

moreover, what have you actually done to try and "rescue" it? have you opened it up?
sad mac codes are generally vague and barely helpful in my experience.

No I have not reseated the memory yet, none of my screwdrivers are thin enough to fit in the top holes

i don't know what that means.
get yourself a torx T15 screwdriver or extension that's at least 6 inches long. should sell them at home depot or whatever

tbh, your post is really "i have tried nothing and i'm out of ideas".

its a 35 year old computer, you gotta crack it open and inspect for faults

realistically it's probably just the memory.

Also at car parts stores. No rainforest visit necessary.

Well, they are asking what to try. There’s nothing wrong with being out of ideas or not knowing where to start. Nobody knows everything.

SEs are not usually beyond repair but as has been mentioned, there could be several causes to the Sad mac error and opening it up will be worthwhile.
