| Converting Fullpaint Documents? |
Posted by: l008com on 2016-08-19 01:46:20 Wondering if anyone knows of a way I can do this. My old Mac only goes back as far as System 7.5.5. However these Fullpaint documents I have were created on a Mac Plus in the early 90s, probably on System 5. Fullpaint doesn't run very well on System 7 or newer. If I could just open the documents, I could take screen shots of them (they are black and white) and convert those easy enough. But I don't have any Macs even close to being old enough to be able to run this program. Of course, I way to convert more directly would be great, but I don't think any programs out there can open Fullpaint documents?

Posted by: Elfen on 2016-08-19 10:12:14 What program are you using? Any of the Adobe PhotoShop Series (from PS 2.5 to modern day CS6) can open them with either as 'File -> Open' or 'File -> Import' functions. The same with many other Mac Graphics programs.
The FullPaint file format is either Bit Map or Pict file format, so any Graphics program should be able to open it. Even MS Paint can open them (though the image will be inverted on the PC for some reason). Where are these files? On a disk or hard drive somewhere? A PowerPC Mac should be able to read a 800K disk (the Mac Plus, though it can use system 5, was on System 6 or 7), so file compatibility it not lost here. Even if it were System 3.2, file compatibility would not be lost.
Tried connecting the Mac Plus to the other Mac through the printer ports and use Apple talk to transfer them? If your disks are not being read by your newer Mac but is read on an older Mac, then it could be your floppy drive on that machine that is bad.

Posted by: l008com on 2016-08-19 12:44:45 The files are currently on a 7300, but I can easily transfer them to my modern Mac via ftp.
No luck opening them with Preview or Photoshop (CS6):
