Test Classic II logic board with SE analog ?
Posted by: emuboy on 2024-04-02 14:07:03
Good evening!

I recently acquired a Plus an SE FDHD and a Classic II, I recently recapped the Classic II but I wanted to test it before I start to recap it's analog board.

I have a fully working SE, I notice the connector for the analog board it's the same, can I just connect it?

I don‘t think so, at least one signal is different (brightness control PWM). Maybe you can rewire an ATX extension cable..

Is there any reference handy for it ?

The pinounts are quite different so you'd need to make a custom cable:

Classic II pinouts https://old.pinouts.ru/Power/macclassicpower_pinout.shtml
SE pinouts https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?attachments/se-30-logic-board-pinouts-and-caps-png.33698/

Edit: Updated SE pinouts to the right ones

So, I tried this and tested the cable before plugin it in, it has worked for a short while, but the image was reveresed and I had white horizontal lines on the screen, sadly, that was it, I shut it down quickly but now I don't have any picture on my SE with the SE board plugged in, I have 12v and 5v and I it does the booting sound.

The logic board was marginal so perhaps something has given up.

weird toh, why the signal would be so different?

Ok, I don't understand what happened but my SE is fine, took it apart, put it back together and it was good to go, clealy it wasn't happy about the video signal.
