| Macintosh Classic II recap needed? |
Posted by: gagigu on 2024-03-15 08:02:38 Hi there!
I'm new in the forum and also in the world of classic Macintosh' computers.
A while ago I bought this beautiful set of a Macintosh Classic II with plenty of accessories incl. a printer in very good shape from its only owner.

Sadly I realized it doesn't chime and only shows this stripe pattern.

I opened the computer and the boards didn't showed some leaked capacitors and the clock battery was still in good condition (of course I removed it after opening). Is there someone in Europe (maybe in Switzerland/Germany too) who might recap this little boy?
Best from Switzerland,

Posted by: gagigu on 2024-03-15 08:07:29 Ok thanks for that quick reply. Is there a good address in mid Europe where I can send it to someone? |

Posted by: joshc on 2024-03-15 09:00:11 Make sure to use a service that can also perform diagnostics/repair as well. Unfortunately a recap alone might not be enough to get it working. Classic and Classic II Macs are well known for having other issues. |

Like what? I suggest using the forum search to find the relevant threads, most will mention the common issues with the Classic analog board in particular. It’s often talked about because it’s so common to see non-capacitor failures on the analog board.

Posted by: chrisrueckert on 2024-05-16 05:01:01 @gagigu Does your Classic II still need a recap? I would still have capacity in June and live near Zurich. PM me if needed. |
Posted by: macintosh2002 on 2024-05-20 01:37:22 @gagigu Could you please post a picture of that logicboard? I could help to recap that board but want to see a picture first. I'm near Frankfurt, Germany. |

Hi there!
Yes it still needs a recap. I tried emailing the one from above from macrecap.ch but didn't got any answer and now the website seems to be down. I'll make you a PM. |

If chrisrueckert has some time left I prefer him as he seems to be very close to me. Otherwise I'll come back to your offer 🙂 |
Posted by: robin-fo on 2024-05-20 08:11:25 In case of „emergency“, I could also help. Located mostly in Aargau. |
