Getting the itch again I had began scouring the socials for a bargain, was able to get this with the bag, keyboard and power cord (No mouse).
So it's a Rev B 1986, I bought it unseen and was dropped it me for $250.00 (AUS), bit of gamble but it felt right.
So first look over warning signs straight away, look at the Torx screws (Photo 1), well 2 off the mutilated ones anyway, yep amateur invasion so I was thinking the worse.
Finally got the silver butchered screws out and case removed, it was dirty, it was even hard to slide the logic board out, oh my look at that dust and the case is so yellow, how much corrosion is under that dust, at least the battery has not leaked! | Posted by: Benno on 2024-01-29 01:03:11
Well good news starts happening, no tampering/weird mods inside, completely stock, oh well lets brush down the Logic Board, holy shit, no other cleaning, just a brush down with a shavers brush (pictured). Looks really good, no corrosion anywhere.
Curiosity got the better of me and without removing the analog and PSU, I had to fire it up, HD did not recognise but a nice screen and quick boot up.
Also gave the bag a clean, no rips or tears, some staining on the left below the pocket.
This might not even need any circuit board work (analog board to come), will replace the battery though on the logic board. | Posted by: cheesestraws on 2024-01-29 01:03:47

That doesn't sound too bad a price for an SE to me, especially over there in Australia where mac stuff is more expensive.
oh my look at that dust and the case is so yellow, how much corrosion is under that dust, at least the battery has not leaked!
The dust looks mostly dry, and those through-hole caps leak much less than the SMD ones. If the battery hasn't gone bang, you may be lucky. | Posted by: Benno on 2024-01-29 01:09:13

It works fine, check out the photos of the logic board above, I only dusted it, it looks new! Pretty much all done and now have everything working and cleaned, upgraded to 4mb new RAM
Floppy spat it on first go, lots of noise and now won't eject but still reads and writes discs so just leaving it for now.
