I have mapped and image’d, the PSU caps, but could do with the heads up.
Is there a device for the future that can distinguish between low esr caps and standard radials.
Thanks for looking and any advice I’d appreciate . | Posted by: Phipli on 2024-01-12 03:28:29

Thanks for looking and any advice I’d appreciate . You can't really measure the ESR of the old caps because it changes with time and is one of the failure modes. It would be like measuring the capacitance and replacing based on that.
Generally the low ESR caps are in the output stage near where the connection to the logic board is. | Posted by: Plasticoat on 2024-01-12 04:24:38

I have checked other posts over the internet, and I will go ahead and replace with nothing other than quality radials.
I will however, check this thread if there is any more info forthcoming .
Thanks again Phipli | Posted by: Phipli on 2024-01-12 04:57:46

Thanks again Phipli You can specify low ESR caps when ordering ones for the output section, quality doesn't always mean low ESR. I've been buying from Mouser lately, their interface lets you check / compare the ESR values. And often say "Low ESR" in the description. | | 1 |
