So my Macintosh SE's hard disk was working fine until a floppy disk got stuck in the drive. Now, the hard drive starts spinning until the Happy Mac passes. Does anybody know why the hard disk stops trying to read when it tries to read the floppy disk?
P.S. The floppy disk is a copy of MacDraw.

It's probably stuck in an eject loop. Unplug the floppy drive until you get it fixed.

Every Mac of the era prioritizes the floppy drives in the startup order before any SCSI device. You will never be free of this until the disk is out.

You might be able to manually eject the floppy with a large paper clip. There is a small hole on the right side of the drive slot. Fold out one side of the paper clip, and push into that small hole. You should feel it stop when it hits the eject tab on the floppy. Apply a little more force and the floppy should lift up and eject

Ha! I figured you might have, but I guess it had to be said...
Has the floppy drive been serviced since you got the machine?

The funny thing is you never asked how to fix it; you asked why does it get in a loop not reading from the HD when the floppy is stuck.

If you want a fix, disassemble the machine and take the drive out. Th ERs your only meaningful way to fix it.

It's not worth talking about anymore. I had opened my Mac SE, and as I was working on removing the logic board, part of the tube broke. I would be eternally grateful if anyone happens to have a parts Mac.

🙁 that is really unfortunate; the last time that I did that I was a teenager...horrible hissing sound with that. Either the eBay link or I have a few.

Yep, I was trying to remove a cable on the logic board, and the cable gave way and SMACK!, I had broken the glass part of the neck.
