| Original iBook ROM 2.3.1 |

Does anyone have either the original version 2.3.1 Mac OS ROM that shipped with the original clamshell iBook, or an OS 8.6 install/restore CD for the original iBook? I've been given an iBook to restore primarily as a gaming machine and I'm looking to install OS 8.6 for at least one game that does not work well in 9 but works perfectly in 8.6 (ShadowWraith). Booting 8.6 using a later ROM causes a bus error on boot immediately after the "Welcome to Mac OS" screen appears. I have checked Mac GUI and the Garden for this particular version and it seems this one is missing from both, either as a standalone or part of collections. Feel free to PM me if you have this ROM/CD and wouldn't mind sharing. Please? 🙂

Is it a Tangerine or Blueberry ibook? I have a blueberry and I just used generic 8.6 without issues.

8.6 should work on either the Tangerine or the Blueberry models, since those were both the original models. What ROM are you using? What do you mean "generic 8.6"-- as far as I know, 8.6 was never sold by itself...

Are you able to boot from either of those images? When I use the Mac OS ROM file from either of them (version 1.4) then all I get at startup is the blinking question mark folder.
I'm pretty sure I need Mac OS ROM version 2.3.1 *specifically,* as this is what shipped with the machine.
