Looking for old MacUser / Macuserware cover floppy disks
Posted by: joshc on 2023-12-11 00:34:49
I am looking for some old MacUser / "Macuserware" cover floppy disks.

I haven't been able to find them on the Garden or anywhere else, and a search for "Macuserware" on Google doesn't return anything.

Does anyone have any stashed away in a box that they could try to image and upload the files somewhere?

Here's what the disks looked like...

Some extra context / why I am looking for them in particular:

On one of the "Games" disks (I cannot remember which number), there was a copy of "Rock Paper Scissors" which has not been archived anywhere - it was a very simple B&W rock paper scissors game that I used to play on my dad's SE in the 90s, and the game itself was probably from the late 80s. I haven't been able to find it since.

It wouldn't surprise me if there's other software/games on these disks that hasn't been archived anywhere, so finding anyone who has them would be really great.

No leads on MacUserware, but searching extant software compilations for rock/paper/scissors games c. 1989 turns up jan-ken-pon as well as two versions of Paper•Rock•Scissors with completely different graphics. Do any of those screenshots look familiar?

Well !

https://macintoshgarden.org/games/paper-rock-scissors is the game I was looking for ! Thanks so much for this. Brings back a lot of memories. Played it many times on an SE in the 90s. Now I can play it again on my M1 Mac in mini vMac. 🙂
